07 Sep ORPT Skin Type: What You Need to Know
- Tight skin
Congratulations, your Skin Type is definitely one of the easier types, since your type’s strengths far outweigh its deficits. Oily, resistant, and tight skin looks great and will age well. Yes, you may get acne (particularly in youth) and some resulting dark spots, but your skin is easy to take care of and has vibrancy and a glow that many ORPTs take for granted. Luckily, you rarely develop the stinging, redness, or product allergies often experienced by more sensitive types. Oily skin is troublesome in youth but, for women, will often improve with menopause. The dark spots, which are your enemy do have an upside: The pigmentation that causes them also helps to protect you from skin cancer. Finally, tight skin helps you retain your youthful appearance when other types are hunting down anti-aging remedies. Your skin is to be coveted and also protected with regular sunscreen use as well as an antioxidant-rich diet. Click here to see my favorite products for your skin type.
Things to Watch Out For
- All dark-skinned ORPTs readily develop dark spots, triggered by a skin injury or inflammation, including cuts, burns, and bruises.
- Allergic reactions are less common for you than for sensitive types.
- Ingrown hairs can cause dark spots, and dark-skinned male ORPTs experience this in the beard area, especially if they shave and should be carefully watched.
- Women may find that they have excessive facial hair above the lip, on the cheeks, or any number of other places. Darker-skin-toned ORPTs have darker-colored hair, making unwanted hair growth more noticeable. However, hair removal can create further problems: Waxing and chemical depilatories can irritate your skin and leave dark spots in their wake. Plucking hairs can lead to tweezer injury, subsequently leaving dark spots.
You may battle with oily skin, struggle with troublesome breakouts, despair that your face always looks shiny in photos, and avoid wearing necessary sun protection because you can’t stand it’s greasy feel. Instead of foregoing it in general the trick is to find a sunscreen and other products that don’t add to your skin’s natural oiliness. You should use caution with sunscreens, hair gels, leave-in conditioners, hand lotions, and other products that may come into contact with your face, as they can contribute to greasiness.
While you should find this helpful it only is just starting to dig into what it means to be an ORPT, The biggest favor you can do yourself is to see a certified STS Dermatologist that can guide you on your path to your most beautiful skin.
